On Monday the 11th day of February, 2013, the Prisoners’ Rehabilitation & Welfare Action PRAWA played host to selected high level delegates and prosecutors from Ministry of Justice, Enugu State and justice sector stakeholders.
The event was the review of Prosecutors’ Handbook being developed for the use of Ministry of Justice by Barrister Akariwe under the second component of ‘Speeding-Up Criminal Justice in Enugu State Project’ which focuses on Speeding-up the prosecution process. The project which piloted in Enugu, South East Nigeria is managed by PRAWA and supported by Justice for All J4A Programme of DFID.
The Prosecutors’ Handbook is an instructional manual that will assist all the Prosecutors of Ministry of Justice in carrying out their duties effectively. Barrister Akariwe who is PRAWA Consultant on the assignment had earlier presented the draft of the manual to the panel of reviewers made of over twenty five professional and experienced Ministry of Justice Prosecutors. They made their inputs and recommendations after reading through the draft manual.
Barrister Akariwe is expected to reflect the inputs and recommendations in the final draft of the manual before it is released for general use and applications by the Enugu State Ministry of Justice Prosecutors and other interest groups.
