PRAWA Embraces the 2023 Yellow Ribbon Project

The Yellow Ribbon Project is a worldwide movement dedicated to shining a light on the challenges confronting individuals who have completed their sentences and are reentering society after incarceration. This initiative champions the belief that these individuals, often labeled as ‘ex-offenders,’ deserve a fresh start without enduring the weight of past mistakes.

At PRAWA, we view the Yellow Ribbon Project as a powerful symbol of hope and transformation. It’s a movement that resonates deeply with our mission and values.

The Goals of the project include –

✅ Advocating for the unlocking of the ‘second prison’: We are dedicated to persuading the society unlock the ‘second prison’ built around ex-offenders, which often involves societal prejudice and a lack of opportunities. Through the Yellow Ribbon Project, we strive to break down these barriers and open doors to brighter futures.

✅ Stopping Stigmatization of Ex-offenders: It’s our mission to put an end to the unfair stigmatization of ex-offenders. They have paid their dues and deserve the chance to reintegrate into society with dignity.

✅ Advocating ‘Second Chance’ / Forgiveness for Ex-offenders: We firmly believe that ex-offenders deserve a second chance. Their potential for positive change is immense, and the Yellow Ribbon Project is our way of giving them that opportunity.

As part of our commitment, PRAWA is embarking on two-week long activities in the month of September as part of the promotion of the Yellow Ribbon Project.
